Waterberg Plateau Park encompassing the Waterberg Plateau is located 68 km east of Otjiwarongo in Namibia. Waterberg Plateau rising above the plains of the Kalahari of Eastern Namibia is prominent feature of the Africa.

Geologically, the oldest rock stratum is over 850 million years old and dinosaurs tracks were left there some 200 million years ago which are still found in the park.

The plateau and its surrounding land were declared a Nature Reserve in 1972. As the plateau is mostly unreachable from beneath a number of endangered species of Namibia were relocated in the early 1970s to protect them from predators and poaching. The relocation programme was highly successful, and now Waterberg park supplies games to other parks.
