Lagoon Lodge, Walvis Bay (397.6km)
Brandberg White Lady Lodge, Brandberg (266.7km)
Omandumba Bush Camp, Erongo Mountains (141.7km)
Back to Windhoek (249.8km)

Our first stop will be at Daan Viljoen Game Reserve, a reserve on the western side of Windhoek that provides excellent dry-country birding. From here we make our way down the escarpment and across the spectacular plains of the Namib Desert.
We will arrive in Walvis Bay in the late afternoon. After settling into our perfectly situated accommodation for the evening we will get together for some afternoon birdwatching.
We will spend the late afternoon at the famous Walvis Bay lagoon, which hosts several wonderful bird species.
We will return to our lodge to freshen up and then we will have dinner at one of the many good-quality establishments in town. We will then return to our lodge for a good night’s rest.
Lagoon Lodge is perfectly positioned near the famous Walvis Bay Lagoon, offering comfortable accommodation and easy access to some of Namibia’s finest birdwatching opportunities. Guests can enjoy beautiful lagoon views, abundant birdlife, and a peaceful atmosphere while exploring the coastal attractions of Walvis Bay.

After an early breakfast at the lodge, we will focus on finding Dune Lark, Namibia’s only true endemic and a great bird to have on any birder’s list.
From here we will make our way north to Damaraland, driving past one of Namibia’s most recognizable landmarks in the distance, the Spitzkoppe.
The plains of Damaraland are home to many special bird species.
This region is also home to an assortment of scientifically important desert-adapted wildlife such as African elephants, Black Rhinoceros, and Lions, which somehow survive and thrive in this near-barren landscape. If we are lucky we might see some of these special animals.
We should arrive at our lodge situated on the Huab River by late afternoon. It is close to the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain.
Our accommodation for tonight is a beautiful lodge, with stunning views. We will check in and have some time in our rooms. We will then get together to update our lists.
Brandberg White Lady Lodge is situated near Namibia’s highest mountain and offers comfortable accommodation surrounded by spectacular Damaraland scenery. The lodge provides excellent opportunities for birdwatching, wildlife viewing, and exploring the unique landscapes of the Brandberg region.

After coffee and an early breakfast we will use the morning to explore the Huab River and surrounding Mopane woodland, home to several of the Namibian near endemics and other important species.
We will then have lunch and continue southeast to the incredible rocky topography of the Erongo area. The landscape is dominated by rugged granite outcrops standing tall over the surrounding arid plains.
It is the best area in the country to search for the very secretive Hartlaub’s Spurfowl, and although probably better to search for this special species tomorrow morning, we will have a quick walk among the boulders to try our luck.
Our lodge is perfectly situated amongst the rocks and staying here is the perfect ending to an amazing birding tour.
We will have dinner and update our lists, and perhaps sit on the deck and enjoy the incredible views. After dinner we retire to our tents and enjoy a good night’s sleep; tomorrow morning we have some big targets!
Omandumba Bush Camp is nestled among the granite outcrops of the Erongo Mountains and offers a unique wilderness experience. Guests can enjoy stunning scenery, fascinating cultural encounters, excellent birdwatching opportunities, and peaceful accommodation in one of Namibia’s most scenic mountain regions.

We will start the day with an early walk around the lodge.
The granite hills surrounding the lodge are famous for some very special birds. We will return to the dining area for a late breakfast, and at this time the massive numbers of Rosy-faced Lovebirds should be busy with their morning foraging.
It is special sipping your coffee with hundreds of these colorful (and luckily wild) lovebirds around you! After our exciting morning of birding, we will pack up our bags, check out, and drive back to Windhoek.
It is a drive of about 2 and a half hours to the southeast back to the capital.
Once in the city, we will either take you to the Hosea Kutako International Airport, or back to your hotel or guesthouse if you are staying over, or we could swing by one of the other birding hotspots around town if you are only flying onward later in the evening.

View DetailsOur Namibian tour was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Henzel was both our guide and driver, and he did an outstanding job in both roles. He was incredibly thorough and well-prepared, always sharing detailed insights about the landscapes, wildlife, and local culture. You could tell he truly knew and loved the country.

We did the “7 Days Wildlife Etosha and Sossusvlei Namibian Safari (Accommodated)” with Safari World Tours in December 2023 and it was the best choice for our family! We are experienced travelers (49 countries visited) and found that to travel to Namibia with a small child (4 years old) a tour would the the best option
