The African, also known as cape buffalo or congo buffalo, is a large, robust animal that is part of the bovidae family. It is found throughout sub-Saharan Africa and also in parts of western Africa, such as Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire. Cape buffalo are diurnal animals and also are herbivores that primarily graze on grasses. The gestation period for females is between 11 and 12 months, with one calf being the average number of young born.
