Farm Namtib is a privately owned biosphere reserve covering an area of 16 400 hectares. Namtib is situated at the edge of the Namibian Namib Desert in the Tiras Mountains and is owned and run by the Theile family.
Namtib is often called the Jewel of the Tiras Mountains. The farm offers visitors not only a relaxing holiday – it offers an unforgettable and genuine Namibian experience at the edge of the famous Namib-Naukluft Park.
Surrounded by the beauty of majestic African landscapes, rugged mountains towering over vast open plains, guests will experience tranquility, wide open spaces, fascinating unspoilt scenery, breathtaking views, untouched nature and absolute silence. Tourists can enjoy typical Namibian rustic farm style accommodation at “Namtib Desert Lodge” or will find an individual desert and wilderness experience at the campsite “Little Hunter’s Rest”.
Namtib Desert Lodge offers only five bungalows, one family chalet and two single rooms to limit the number of guest to a maximum of 16 people. There is no air condition in the rooms, but colorful, rustic ambience ensuring an authentic Namibian holiday experience.
The owner run lodge is popular for good food and good conversation with the hosts, Linn and Thorsten Theile, around the dinner table. The home-cooked three course dinner, as well as the breakfast includes vegetables of the season, selected meats – especially game – and home-baked bread.
With only five widespread single camp sites and one larger group site the “Little Hunters Rest”, ensures individuality. The campiste of the Namtib Biosphere Reserve provides basic ablutions and cooking facilities and an absolutely undisturbed stay at the edge of the Namib Desert.
