This 15 day tour is a 4×4 self-drive which allows you to experience various highlights in Namibia and Botswana at your own pace! You will also do a river cruise along the Chobe, and enjoy close encounters with hippo, giraffe, and many other animals that you might not have seen before.

SELF-DRIVE INFORMATION:

 

Emergency Services: Emergency evacuation services are included.

Drivers: A valid and unendorsed license must be produced by all drivers. The minimum age for authorized drivers is 23 years.

Fuel: The renter will receive the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. Upon the return of the vehicle/termination of the hire, the vehicle will be refilled at the renter’s expense.

Insurances: The rental vehicle includes Zero Excess

Rental Agreement: Upon renting the vehicle the renter and additional drivers will be required to complete a standard rental agreement with the car rental company. A valid credit card is required for the rental deposit.

Health: It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that he/she is medically fit and able to embark on the tour.

Force Majeure: We do our utmost to conduct the tour as described in the program; however, we cannot guarantee it. Unfavorable weather conditions, rivers in flood, organizational problems, unforeseen events, or other factors may force us to change the course of the tour. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Day 1: Londiningi Guest House, Windhoek (4.7km)

After your arrival you will be welcomed by the car rental company and taken to Windhoek where you will take over your vehicle with all the necessary instructions and information. Afterwards you will drive to your accommodation where you are able to freshen up and rest. In the afternoon you will have time to do some shopping for the next couple of days during the drive you can also get to know historical buildings. In the evening you can go out for a relaxing dinner. We can recommend Joe’s Beerhouse, Cape Town Fish Market or The Stellenbosch

Day 2: Sossus Oasis Campsite, Sesriem (309.9km)

Today your self drive journey starts as you depart to Sesriem towards the Namib Desert and enjoy the scenery. Explore the world famous Sossusvlei by yourself.

  • Book a Hot Air Balloon safari upfront, Sundowner at Elim Dune Sossusvlei Excursion ( Deadvlei, Big Daddy and Dune 45)

Day 3: Sossus Oasis Campsite, Sesriem

Have an early breakfast, today you have a full day to do activities you did not get to do when you arrived.

Day 4: The Delight Swakopmund Gondwana Collection Namibia, Swakopmund (346.9km)

Have breakfast and depart to Swakopmund at Solitair you can put fuel in. Swakopmund has a lot to offer where you will be sleeping for 2 night once you have arrived, you will have lunch.

Day 5: The Delight Swakopmund Gondwana Collection Namibia, Swakopmund

Today you have a full day to do activities and explore the beautiful places of Swakopmund.

Day 6: Mowani Campsite, Twyfelfontein (324.4km)

Have breakfast and leave the desert behind you and drive towards Damaraland where you will be sleeping for 2 night. There is plenty to discover, from the rock paintings at Brandberg to desert elephants and himba tribes.

Day 7: Mowani Campsite, Twyfelfontein

Have a full day to do activities Twyfelfontein is the world Heritage Site with famous rock engravings on the search of the elusive desert-adapted elephants.

  • See the Petrified Forest or marvel at the Organ Pipes and Vingerklip
  • Elephant trekking, visit, Bushman rock art sites at Twyfelfontein and the Brandberg Massif lastly Explore Spitzkoppe or take pictures from far away

Day 8: Okaukuejo Camp, Etosha South (339.7km)

Have breakfast and depart to Etosha South Time for a safari! The animals are most active during early morning and late afternoon hours. You could book a safari with a guide through the lodge. However, we feel that Etosha is very suitable for self-drive first stop would be Okaukuejo where you pay your entry fee and I suggest you pop in at the local shop to purchase some drinks and snacks and most importantly, a map of Etosha which will show you all the waterholes along the way. Etosha has lions, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, springbok and elephants. This on top of many lesser and common plains herds, and abundant birds makes game viewing in Etosha.

Day 9: Okaukuejo Camp, Etosha South

Clients will take early breakfast and then go on the Full day game drive and around 12h00 -13h00 clients will have lunch inside the park and continue with the game drive up till the afternoon and after the game drive guest will have leisure time to enjoy the atmosphere before dinner.

  • Full day Game Drive, visit the waterholes and see how various animals quench their thirst.

 

Day 10: Onguma Tamboti Campsite, Onguma Game Reserve (147.9km)

After breakfast drive towards the Eastern side (Onguma Game Reserve) of the park and explore this area.

  • Game drives, guided walks and rhino research drives within the private reserve as well as wildlife safaris

Day 11: Hakusembe Campsite Gondwana Collection Namibia, Rundu (423.2km)

Have breakfast and drive towards the greener part of Namibia. The lodge offers boat trips which are excellent for birding.

Optional activities

  • Game viewing, visit Popa Falls, or Mahangu Game Reserve, excellent bird watching as well as kayaking on the spectacular Kavango River.

Day 12: Namushasha River Lodge Gondwana Collection Namibia, Kwando River (436.8km)

Drive further towards the Zambezi region (Caprivi Strip). The parks in the area offer some great wildlife spotting. Drive yourself or book a game drive via the lodge.

Day 13: Chobe Safari Lodge, Kasane (252.1km)

Cross the border into Botswana. A boat tour is a must, watch the elephants swim. Chobe is easy to explore with your own vehicle but you could also book a game drive via the lodge in an open safari vehicle.

  • Day trip to Victoria Falls is bookable upon arrival or up front via us, taking a sunset cruise down the Chobe River and visiting a local village

Day 14: Chobe Safari Lodge, Kasane

You wake up get breakfast continue with the activities suitable for 4×4 experienced drivers. Enjoy the Botswana wilderness and camp inside the National Park.
