This 9-Day Wildebeest Migration and Big 5 Safari will take you to the Great Migration. The wildebeest gather by the thousands in the Northern Serengeti and start to crisscross over the Mara River. A river crossing is a truly phenomenal sigh. The stuff of wildlife documentaries. In the dry season month of October, vast herds of wildebeest and zebra will converge on Mara River in Tanzania’s northern Serengeti.

Itinerary
DAY 1: ARUSHA INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met and assisted by a Sense of Africa representative. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Arusha arriving in time for check-in. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 2: ARUSHA - TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, re-join your safari driver guide and drive to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is Tanzania's third-largest national park and a sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are another interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. You may catch glimpses of lions, leopards and cheetahs

DAY 3: TARANGIRE - THE HIGHLANDS OF THE NGORONGKORO AREA (KARATE)
After breakfast at the Lodge, commence drive to the floor of the crater for a crater tour. Quite possibly the most famous of all Africa’s conservation areas, this is one of the places where you stand a good chance of seeing the Big 5. The enduring charm of Ngorongoro stems from its overwhelming physical beauty and the abundance of wildlife permanently resident here. Later you will return to your camp. Late afternoon drive back to your Lodge in Karatu area.

DAY 4: NGORONGORO - SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (CENTRAL - SERONERA)
Breakfast and check out. Drive to the Serengeti National Park, undoubtedly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequaled for its natural beauty and the greatest concentration of plains game anywhere. Arrive for lunch at your lodge. Afternoon game drives until sunset.

DAY 5: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
On this incredible day, you will be driven across remote locations within the vast Serengeti plains in pursuit of the Great Migration. Serengeti, a UNESCO world heritage site, is home to around 200,000 zebras, and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles that join the wildebeests’ trek for fresh grazing. Listen to the exotic sounds of over 6 million hooves pounding the open plains of Serengeti just like how you imagined African wildlife to be. After a long day of Safari, you will drive to your accommodation for evening leisure and overnight.

After breakfast you will head off to Northern Serengeti to take part in an action-packed game drive. The unforgettable sightings of this natural wonder of the world between July and November; watching the river crossings of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest as they plunge into the crocodile infested waters on their relentless journey to find food. This event is a dramatic event, featured in countless wildlife documentaries. One of Tanzania’s best kept secrets is at the fact that nearly half of the Mara River is situated in the North Serengeti. Later in the evening you will return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

DAY 6: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (CENTRAL-NORTH)
After breakfast we depart to north Serengeti for wildebeest migration, Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in the Wagakuria area, with pride of lions up to 30 strong, however, from July to October the area turns into a wildlife paradise. The key feature is the Mara River and it is not uncommon to see the herds cross the Mara River north on one day and then back south a few days later. Please take note – actually finding a crossing is very difficult and is sometimes a matter of luck.

DAY 7: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (NORTH-FULL DAY)
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in the Wagakuria area. Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in this area of the park, with pride of lions up to 30 strong, however, from August to October the area turns into a wildlife paradise. The key feature is the Mara River and it is not uncommon to see the herds cross the Mara River north on one day and then back south a few days later. Please take note –Finding a crossing is very difficult and is sometimes a matter of luck. A herd can be seen next to the river and only decide to cross or not cross until a couple of days later. This area is a stunning region with kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation and open plains, similar to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

DAY 8: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK - NGORONGORO CRATER
After breakfast, we take a short pleasant drive to Ngorongoro Conservation area, we will have an early morning game drive to Ngorongoro inside the Crater. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is an extensive highland area along the eastern arm of the Rift Valley, with the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point. Ngorongoro was established to conserve wildlife and other natural resources. It also safeguards the interests of indigenous people and promotes tourism. In the evening drive to the lodge for evening leisure and overnight..

DAY 9: KARATU/NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA - KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Distance: 245km/4hrs drive
After breakfast, we head back to Arusha and pass by a shopping market on the way. After which, we will facilitate your transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.

To reserve this tour, a payment of 30% of the total price must be made at the time of reservation. The balance of 70% can be made 30 days before the departure of your tour. Your deposit can either be made through a Bank Transfer, with the addition of a 45 US Dollar fee or by Credit Card which incurs an additional bank charge of 3.5%.
