A three-hour drive north will reveal a whole new take on Namibia’s beautiful landscapes as the mountains and giant dunes become open plains as you approach the foggy coast and Swakopmund where you will spend the next 2 nights. This is your first taste of that cool Atlantic breeze and fog. With shopping, a good stretch of beach (though the Atlantic here is quite cold), and an open-air curio market, this seaside town makes for a pleasant stop. Swakopmund is also home to a very good museum and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium.

Not only is it scenic and beautiful, but the large numbers of animals also make this a game viewing extravaganza. Keep your eyes peeled. Sit at a waterhole and watch the animals come and go. You’re likely to see numerous species at any given moment.
