‘Ololo’ is an Australian family owned safari lodge, which combines the atmosphere and style of bush living while offering all the convenience and amenities of a city hotel. Ololo’s partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service allows full park access. This day after breakfast guest will go on a morning and evening game drives in the park. Lewa Downs holds over 12% of Kenya’s black rhino population and the largest single population of Grevy zebras in the world approximately 350 individuals. Lewa Wilderness is one of Kenya’s oldest private safari experiences. For forty years guests have been coming to this remarkable region to be part of an adventure like no other. Those four decades have seen that passion passed down through the Craig family who proudly continue to run Lewa Wilderness today.

Lewa Wilderness is one of the original family homes and is still home to Will and Emma Craig. Guests can relax by the fire in the cozy sitting room and share meals around a long banquet table in the open-air dining room. Natural springs, home-raised livestock, and a 5-acre organic garden are transformed by skilled chefs into incredible, healthy and delicious food.

There are ten comfortable thatched cottages with spacious en suite bathrooms, fireplaces in the sitting areas and verandahs.

Activities to take part in while staying at Lewa Wilderness include game drives, game walks, go on a camel safari, horseback riding, visit the nearby Ngare Ndare Forest and waterfall and fly in a chartered plane over forests, herds of game and treetops. There is a very good chance of seeing all of the “Big Five” and Lewa is one of the only game parks where visitors are almost guaranteed to see the endangered black and white rhinos.

Day 6: Lewa Conservancy to Masai Mara

Guest have breakfast and drive west to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. You will have the opportunity to enjoy your lunch on your way and arrive in time for an evening game drive.

The Masai Mara together with Tanzania’s Serengeti form Africa’s most famous wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. The image of acacia trees dotting endless grass plains epitomises Africa for many, then add a Maasai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further. The undeniable highlight of the Masai Mara National Reserve is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration traversing the vast plains of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at a camp with hot showers and flush toilets.

Guest will wake up to a nice breakfast and then proceed on a full day of game viewing within the reserve. The landscape here is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills. The reserve is the best park for game viewing in Kenya as it has an extensive road and track network that allows for close range viewing and photography. Break for your picnic lunch by the hippo pool, looking out for resident hippos and crocodiles. Your dinner and overnight will be at the camp.

Arrive on the warm and welcoming Swahili coast of Kenya, where the friendly coastal people will take good care of you, while you choose to relax or have an active beach holiday Alfajiri Villa’s staff is ready to welcome families, and have plenty of activities available for all ages. In the evening, meet with your villa manager to discuss plans and possible activities for your family over the next few days. For families with small children, we have staff ready to take care of them, to enjoy the private pool at your villas or to go to the beach nearby. For adventurous families, there are wonderful activities to keep busy with over the next few days. Try your hand at Kisite surfing, diving or snorkeling. Or for avid fishermen, deep-sea fishing excursions can be arranged, try for the elusive marlin.
