Haus Sonneneck, Windhoek (45km)

After you arrive at the Hosea Kutako International Airport approximately 45 km east of Windhoek, you will be welcomed by the car rental company and transferred to Windhoek where you will take over your vehicle with all the necessary instructions and information. Afterwards, drive to your accommodation where you can freshen up and relax.

In the afternoon you will be picked up by your guide from Bwana Tucke-Tucke for an interesting Windhoek city tour, during which you will discover historical buildings and the township of Katutura. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing dinner at one of Windhoek’s popular restaurants such as Joe’s Beerhouse, Cape Town Fish Market or The Stellenbosch.

Windhoek: Situated in Central Namibia, Windhoek is the country’s capital city and serves as the gateway to Namibia. The city blends colonial architecture with modern developments and features attractions such as Alte Feste, Christuskirche and the Supreme Court. Windhoek is known for its clean streets, vibrant atmosphere, shopping opportunities and excellent dining experiences.

After yesterday’s early start you can enjoy a relaxed breakfast before continuing towards Palmwag. Travel through beautiful Damaraland scenery before reaching Palmwag Lodge where your luggage will be transferred to the River Camp of the Etendeka Walking Trail.

Meet your guide and begin the first leg of the trail, a 2–3 hour walk through pristine wilderness. Along the way your guide will introduce you to the fascinating flora and fauna of this arid landscape. Arrive at River Camp in the afternoon and enjoy dinner around the campfire beneath the African sky.

Palmwag: Palmwag is a remarkable nature reserve known for its palm-lined riverbeds, dramatic desert scenery, and one of Africa’s largest populations of free-roaming black rhino. The reserve is also home to elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs and numerous antelope species.
