Our first day started with a bang as we drove 8 hours from Windhoek to Luderitz. Why Luderitz? Luderitz is the closest town to the famous abandoned town of Kolmanskop which is somewhere I’ve had on my bucketlist for years! We took the afternoon to settle into our accommodations.

Kolmanskop war unheimlich, wunderschön und geheimnisvoll und gleichzeitig erschreckend. Wenn alle Mauern sprechen könnten, hätten sie sicher viele Geschichten zu erzählen. Die Stadt war einst lebendig und reich! Bergleute strömten nach Kolmanskop, um Diamanten abzubauen, viele Diamanten! Bis 1956 war die ganze Stadt verlassen. Bei einem Besuch hat man 2 Möglichkeiten: Entweder man geht nur zum Fotografieren hin und zeigt sich selbst die Stadt, oder man nimmt an einer etwa einstündigen Führung teil und hört sich die Geschichte der Stadt an, bevor man auf eigene Faust losziehen und Fotos machen kann. Wir haben uns für die Tour entschieden und es hat sich gelohnt! Es gab so viele coole Geschichten, die wir sonst verpasst hätten.
