Itinerary

Day 1Arusha To Tarangire Or Lake Manyara National Park

Your safari driver/guide will pick you up to begin your safari in the morning. You may request to stop at a supermarket in Arusha to buy snacks and bottled water for your safari. From Arusha, you will drive two to three hours to the Manyara region of Tanzania where you will visit the first park in this safari: either Tarangire or Lake Manyara National Park.

You will enjoy a game drive today, getting your first view of animals, birds, and interesting plant life. Throughout the safari, you will be provided with boxed lunches that allow you to have a picnic right in the parks and maximize valuable wildlife time. After the game drive, you will drive to the Karatu area where you will have dinner, discuss your plans for tomorrow, and stay overnight.

Overnight: Marera Valley Lodge
Distance: 141 km
Time: 2 hr 27 min

Day 2Explore Ngorongoro Conservation Area Return Karatu

Today, you will wake up, enjoy breakfast at your accommodation, and then head out to drive to Serengeti National Park. This drive will take you through Ngorongoro Conservation Area and around the rim of the crater where there is a breath-taking view. You will continue through the Ngorongoro Highlands where you can take in the scenery and wildlife along the way. You will also see the Maasai people and their livestock living side by side with wild animals.

If you choose, you may visit a Maasai boma for a cultural experience (entrance fee not included). After stopping for a picnic lunch at the entrance gate to the Serengeti, you will continue on into the Serengeti for an afternoon game drive before arriving at our accommodation for the night.

Overnight: Marera Valley Lodge
Distance: 40.3 km
Time: 1hr 10 min

Day 3Serengeti To Arusha

Game drive through Serengeti National Park, which is in a league of its own when it comes to the landscape and diversity of fauna. This is the remotest part of the park where you can meet the animals rarely seen by other tourists – for example, oribi antelope.

Northern Serengeti is the place where you can spot the river crossing in July and August – the spectacular and most famous part of the Great Migration, when thousands of wildebeest and zebra are risking their lives in the river, followed by crocodiles and other predators.

By evening, you will finish the safari and return to a hotel in Arusha.
