12 Days Self Drive Namibian Family Safari is to visit around the main highlights that Namibia has to offer in Africa. In just 12 days and 11 nights. You will Spend time amongst the ancient dunes in Sossusvlei, go back in time with the coastal time of Swakopmund. Experience the vast landscapes of Otjiwarongo and exceptional game viewing at the world-famous Etosha National Park.

Self-Drive Information:

Emergency Services: Emergency evacuation services are included.

Drivers: A valid and unendorsed license must be produced by all drivers. The minimum age for authorized drivers is 23 years.

Fuel: The renter will receive the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. Upon the return of the vehicle/termination of the hire, the vehicle will be refilled at the renter’s expense.

Insurances: The rental vehicle includes Zero Excess

Rental Agreement: Upon renting the vehicle the renter and additional drivers will be required to complete a standard rental agreement with the car rental company. A valid credit card is required for the rental deposit.

Health: It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that he/she is medically fit and able to embark on the tour.

Force Majeure: We do our utmost to conduct the tour as described in the program; however, we cannot guarantee it. Unfavorable weather conditions, rivers in flood, organizational problems, unforeseen events, or other factors may force us to change the course of the tour. We apologize for the inconvenience.

How to book and how to pay:

To reserve this tour, a payment of 30% of the total price must be made at the time of reservation. The balance of 70% can be made 30 days before the departure of your tour. Your deposit can either be made through a Bank Transfer, with the addition of a 45 US Dollar fee or by Credit Card which incurs an additional bank charge of 3.5%.

Day 1Windhoek to Gobabis

Time/ Distance: 2 hr 19 min

You will be met and handed over the Vehicle. The guest will drive to eastern Namibia (Gobabis). Like most towns in Namibia, Gobabis has an interesting history, which is documented in the local Gobabis Museum. Opened on request, visitors will find a collection of historic artifacts inside, while old agricultural implements are displayed on the grounds.

Time/ Distance: 4 hr 45 min (364.8 km)

You will have breakfast and have time to explore the cattle country. You can also view the beautiful traditional dress of the local Herero and Damara women while strolling through town, enjoy excellent bird watching in the surrounding areas and jump on the back of a traditional Damara-Nama donkey cart for a ride. Don’t miss a visit to the Harnas Wildlife Foundation, a sanctuary for big cats and a variety of endangered wildlife.

Day 3Gobabis To Mariendal

Time/ Distance: 3 hr 55 min (328.4 km)

You will get morning breakfast and depart to the south side of Namibia. Mariental is located close to magnificent the Hardap Dam, which is the largest reservoir in Namibia. The Hardap Irrigation Scheme has breathed life into this arid terrain, which is now fertile with farmlands covered in citrus, melons, lucerne, wine, and maize, and dotted with ostrich farms.

Day 4Mariental To Fish River Canyon

Time/ Distance: 5 hr 27 min (383 km)

You will get morning breakfast and depart to Fish River Canyon which is Carving out an epic rocky wonderland in the south of Namibia, the Fish River has created Africa’s largest and the world’s second-largest canyon. Hot, dry, and stony, the Fish River Canyon measures a whopping 160 kilometers in length, at times 27 kilometers in width and 550 meters in depth.

You will grab breakfast and go on the excursion into the fish river canyon area and will be back around lunch.

Day 6Fish River Canyon to Sossuvlei

Time/ Distance: 10 hr, 28Min (524 km)

You will depart in the morning from Fish River Canyon and depart to the Sossusvlei area. The drive reveals the transition from Kalahari thornveld to the true desert of the Namib; Lilyveld, a valley 30km north of Maltahöhe, springs into bloom for about a week after good rains; Duiwiseb Castle is an interesting diversion 70km south-west of Maltahöhe. Along the way, clients will get Lunch that will be served along the way where the guide will pullover by a big tree and serve lunch at 12h00-13h00. After arrival guests will have leisure time before going on a Sundowner drive to Elim dune around 17h30 or 18h00.

Day 7Sossuvlei

You will grab breakfast and drive into the park for the Sossuvlei Excursion which includes Dune 45, Deadvlei, Hiddenvlei, and Big Daddy. You will have regular stops to let clients take pictures and have some exposure to the Dunes. You will be back around lunchtime and will have some leisure time for yourself at the pool while.

Day 8Sossusvlei to Swakopmund

Time/ Distance: 4 hr 52 min

You will depart to Swakopmund early morning at around 09:00 am. Once you will arrive, they will get lunch in Swakopmund after quad biking and Sandboard activity which is about a 2-hour drive. After the activities, other optional activities can be Skydiving, Sandwich habour, kayaking, and desert tour. There are a lot of activities that clients can do in Swakopmund.

You will get early Breakfast and then visit the Museum and from there onwards do a City Tour.

Day 10Swakopmund Area to Etosha National Park

Time/ Distance: 3h 40m (437 km)

You will have breakfast and depart to the northern part of Namibia. their journey and the second stop will be in Otjiwarongo, where you can grab lunch at the shopping center before proceeding to Etosha National Park. The route is almost too short to stop, barring a comfort stop at Outjo and a picture of the Ugab Terrace. If time permits, enter Etosha for an afternoon game drive. Depending on how often you stop today, On entering the park, the first stop would be Okaukuejo where you pay your entry fee and we suggest you pop in at the local shop to purchase some drinks and snacks and most importantly, a map of Etosha which will show you all the waterholes along the way. Etosha has lions, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, springbok, and elephants. This on top of many lesser and common plains herds, and abundant birds makes game viewing in Etosha.

Day 11Etosha National Park

You will take early breakfast and then go on the full day game drive and around 12h00 -13h00 clients will have lunch inside the park and continue with the game drive up till the afternoon and after the game, drive you will have leisure time to enjoy the atmosphere before dinner.

Day 12Etosha to Windhoek

Time/ Distance: 3 hr 52 min (414.0 km)

You will get up at 08h00 and have breakfast they will depart to Windhoek and on arrival hand over the Vehicle and the keys to the Representative of the Company.
