We (2 adults and 2 children, aged 13 and 10 yrs) have just come to the end of an adventurous and educational tour organised by Clarence of Safari World Tours. Our trip was last minute but, with only 6 days notice, Clarence managed to put together a tour accommodating all of our wishes, replying promptly to all questions. Our driver/guide, Rudolf, was exceptional. Throughout the tour he taught us about Namibia’s animals, large and small, the culture and languages, as well as the history and geology of the country. We left from Windhoek to Etosha where we spent a night. Thanks to Rudolf’s ‘eagle eyes’ we managed to see giraffes, rhinos, lions, lionesses and cubs, zebras, numerous types of antelopes and many species of birds, all seen within our 24 hours in the park! We then drove into Damaraland, whose landscape was a favourite of the whole family, and had a night in the fabulous Brandberg White Lady Lodge before taking a walk through a gorge to visit the ancient cave paintings of the Damara people. Here we caught a glimpse of a desert-adapted elephant who happened to be walking through the gorge; however, luckily it was ahead of us so we didn’t have to pass it! Our final destination before returning to Windhoek was two nights in Swakopmund. Although a little chiller than we had expected, we enjoyed the fresh beach walks and cafes, dune quad biking, sand boarding and the trip to the seal colony north of Swakopmund. We would highly recommend a trip with Safari World Tours.
