GONAREZHOU NATIONAL PARK

Gonarezhou National Park is a wilderness conservation area located in southeastern Zimbabwe. The park covers an area of over 5000 square kilometers and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including several endangered species. The name “Gonarezhou” means “Place of Elephants” in the local Shona language, and the park is renowned for its large herds of elephants, as well as its populations of lions, leopards, cheetahs, and wild dogs.

One of the park’s main attractions is the Chilojo Cliffs, a series of towering red sandstone cliffs that offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Visitors to the park can also explore several other natural wonders, including the beautiful Chivake River, the scenic Chipinda Pools, and the beautiful Gonarezhou Pan. The park offers a variety of activities for visitors, including game drives, walking safaris, and bird watching, with over 400 species of birds recorded in the park. The park’s remote location and relatively low number of visitors make it an excellent destination for those seeking an authentic African wilderness experience.
